The Ghana Police Service has stated that it is fully prepared to ensure the safety and security of all participants and maintain peace during the #OccupyBoGProtest, which is set to take place tomorrow, Tuesday, October 3.

At a press conference held today, October 3, at the Police Headquarters in Accra, Chief Superintendent Grace Ansah-Akrofi, Director of the Police Public Affairs Directorate, reassured the public that the police have made comprehensive preparations and have an ample number of trained officers ready for deployment.

“We have an adequate number of police officers for tomorrow’s demonstration, and I want to urge every member of the public who wishes to participate in the protest to show up tomorrow because we have enough personnel to provide security throughout the length of the demonstration, and we will be there throughout,” Chief Superintendent Grace Ansah-Akrofi stated.

The #OccupyBoGProtest is being organized by the Minority Caucus in Parliament, to voice their opposition to the Bank of Ghana’s governor and his two deputies. The Caucus’s primary demand is the resignation of the Central Bank’s governor and his deputies following GH¢60 billion in losses recorded by the bank in the 2022 fiscal year.

Regarding the route of the protest, Chief Superintendent Grace Ansah-Akrofi provided details, stating that it will commence from the Obra Spot, proceed through Circle to Adabraka, and continue on to the Cedi House, concluding at Independence Square.

The police have urged all participants to engage responsibly in the demonstration and adhere to all relevant laws and regulations.
