Controversial private legal practitioner, Maurice Ampaw has reacted to the barrage of doomsday prophecies from the 31st Watch Night Service in the country by various prophets.
According to Lawyer Ampaw, some of the prophecies are national security threats and he is baffled at the security agencies allowing some ‘men of God’ to walk free.
Speaking in an interview on Happy Morning Show (HMS) with Samuel Eshun, Lawyer Ampaw said Ghana is a secular country and it is not governed by spiritualism but a constitution. “Ghana is not governed by spirituality; Ghana is governed by the constitution, not the Bible. If you read article 11 of the 1992 constitution, it will tell you the laws of the land, the Bible and Prophecy are not mentioned. The word of God is not in the law in Ghana”.
“Ghana is a secular state governed by the constitution and it’s the mother of all laws in Ghana. At the mention of the name of Ghana’s constitution, every knee bows in Ghana and not the mention of Jesus Christ because if you mention Jesus Christ, Muslims will not bow to him, the number one law that everything is subjected to is the constitution,” he added.
Lawyer Ampaw also opined that any man of God whose utterances go contrary to the constitution must be dealt with. “That’s why the constitution says that, under article 3 any law, anything that is done and any citizen feels that thing is in the contradiction of the constitution, you go to the Supreme Court and ask for declaration for it to be declared null and void. So all our actions, inactions, utterances, commissions are in the constitution. So if you are a man of God and your utterances offend the constitution, you must be dealt with.”
The yearly ritual of prophecies on 31st Watch night services saw several political predictions on the altar of famous prophets in the country.
Some Prophets including Nigel Gaise prophesied that Kwame Dramani will win for the National Democratic Congress if they put their house in order. He added that the electoral commission of Ghana is scheming with the ruling government to rig the 2020 general election.
Prophet Owusu Bempah, and Bishop Elisha Salifu Amoako, who doubles as the Founder and General Overseer of Alive Chapel International, on the other hand, prophesied victory for the ruling NPP in this year’s election also citing an attempt by the opposition to rig the general election.
