Ghana legend Abdul Razak reacts to claims of the 1978 AFCON winning team cursing the Black Stars

????????????????????????????????????

Ghana Legend Karim Abdul Razak has refuted claims that the Black Stars inability to win the AFCON title is because the team has been cursed.

Razak popularly known as ‘Golden boy’ was part of Ghana’s AFCON wining squad in the 1978 Africa Cup of Nations.

The 1978 AFCON winning squad were promised an Estate by the Head of State General Kutu Acheampong if they won the Africa Cup of Nations title. The government were unable to fulfill that promise due to the military coup that happen at the time.

The 1978 winning team have been left in disappointment up-to-date with no means or efforts by government to reward their effort.

Other winning teams such as the 1963 and 1965 have also suffered same fate from the government as their efforts were not acknowledge.

Speaking in an interview Abdul Razark, reacted to those claims made about the 1978 winning squad cursing the Black Stars from winning trophies.

“Who will know that a player has cursed the national team if they dont give us what is due us then it means they have been cursed. It is guilty conscience on their part when things don’t go well. If its a curse and they remember why dont they do what is expected so the curse will be lifted”,

“No one has cursed the national team. It’s guilty conscience that pops up the moment the team loses in finals. If that failed promise ghost still haunts us let the state do the needful by honoring its promise” he retorted.

“Personally Im not sure any player has cursed the national team, that if they fail to honour their promise they will not win any trophy.

“If that’s the case why don’t we come out openly to curse the national team, because nobody can harm us. But I’m not sure such a thing [curse on the national team] exists, if such a thing has been done we will not remind the government to fulfill some promises made to us during our playing days.

“It’s not in our minds [to curse the nation]. The only thing we want is for the state to honour the promises made to us to appease us [for our feat of winning the AFCON for keeps]. So that everything goes on well with the national team” Razak ended.
