Ghana has become a disaster & most polarized ever since independence - PPP calls out ruling NPP

The Progressive People’s Party (PPP) have lambasted the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), accusing them of leading Ghana into unprecedented polarization since gaining independence.

In a scathing press conference held at the Ghana International Press Centre on Tuesday, February 6, Nana Ofori Owusu, Chairman of the PPP, didn’t mince words as he criticized the NPP administration, led by President Nana Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, for what he described as steering the nation towards disaster.

He said, “NPP far too long have steered our ship towards disaster, its rudder broken through state capture and its misuse for personal gain, and its sails torn by the winds of vindictive policies.”

Highlighting the depth of the crisis, Nana Ofori Owusu pointed out the alarming trend of packing public offices and boards with party loyalists, leaving no space for independent voices and professional expertise.

He condemned what he described as the “insidious rot of politicization” that has infiltrated state institutions, from the judiciary to regulatory bodies and beyond.

He lamented the erosion of trust and accountability, attributing it to the NPP’s injection of “poisonous” party loyalty into the fabric of governance.

“Justice, once blind, now squints through eyes clouded by political favors. The rule of law, once a cornerstone of our nation, now crumbles under the weight of executive overreach,” he added.

The party during the presser sounded a clarion call for change and urged Ghanaians to rise above partisan divides and demand accountability from those in power.
