The Ghana Drunkards Association has called for all drinking bars, spots and pubs to be closed on Election Day.

According to the association, doing this is part of their responsibility to ensure transparent and peaceful environment ahead of the 7th December elections.

In a statement issued on Monday December 2, 2024 and signed by its President Moses Onyah, the association cautioned bar owners and bartenders not to open their spots, pubs, bars or blue kiosks to the public from 6AM to 6PM on the 7th of December 2024.

“This directive is to ensure that consumers do not get themselves drunk before going to the polls to avoid the counting of rejected ballots and also to ensure sanity at the various polling stations during the process” parts of the statement read.

The association called on all owners and consumers to adhere to the directives to make sure the election is peaceful and transparent.
