An Accra District Court has sentenced 21-year-old Mohammed Huzeinu to 100 days in prison for invading the pitch during Ghana’s FIFA World Cup qualifier against Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on March 21, 2025.
Huzeinu’s actions disrupted the match and could result in financial penalties for the Ghana Football Association (GFA), as governing bodies often impose fines for security breaches of this nature.
In previous incidents, the GFA was fined a total of $30,000 by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) after pitch invasions at the Cape Coast and Baba Yara Sports Stadiums.
The sentencing serves as a warning to fans, reinforcing the need to respect stadium regulations and ensure order during matches.
