Ghana Bar Association calls for more jobs for lawyers in other regions

President of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) Yaw Acheampong Boafo, Esq has urged for the expansion of job opportunities for legal professionals beyond Accra, advocating for more employment openings in other regions of the country.

At the inauguration of the new “Law House” office complex for the Office of the Attorney General in Accra on Monday June 10, GBA President Yaw Acheampong Boafo, Esq emphasized the urgent need for a stronger and more widespread legal presence across Ghana, stressing the importance of expanded legal services and expertise beyond the capital city.

He stressed the need for decentralization, highlighting the importance of setting up a Greater Accra Regional Office and additional district offices for the Attorney General, which would help ease the workload of police officers who are currently responsible for handling prosecutions in lower courts, allowing for a more efficient and effective administration of justice.

“The surge in lawyers seeking employment at the Office of the Attorney General highlights the need for expansion. It’s imperative to establish a Greater Accra Regional Office and district offices to handle prosecutions, ending the unsustainable practice of police officers shouldering this responsibility in lower courts. This change will enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of our justice system,” he said.
