The Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has disclosed that the government requires approximately GH₵140 million to fully operationalize the Bokoro Agenda 111 Hospital in the Ahanta West Municipality of the Western Region.
This announcement comes three months after the hospital’s commissioning.
Speaking to the media during a visit to the hospital on Monday, March 10, the Minister pointed out that only 10% of the necessary medical equipment had been installed, rendering the facility unsuitable for operation. He stressed that the incomplete installations have left the hospital non-functional since its official opening.
The hospital was inaugurated by former President Nana Akufo-Addo just two days before the December general elections. However, Mr. Akandoh revealed that at the time of the commissioning, the facility was far from ready to serve the public.
He emphasized the need for the government to allocate the necessary funds to complete the installation of critical medical equipment and make the hospital fully operational.
The additional funding, he said, is crucial to ensuring the facility can provide quality healthcare services to the community.
