Former Okwahu United coach, Kweku Nana Agyeman says the next Technical Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), should not be overburden by winning the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title.
Ghana has not won the AFCON title for three decades since they last won in 1982.
In recent times coaches appointed to the Black Stars have been tasked to end the trophy draught.
According to Coach Nana Agyeman, the next Techncial Director should be allowed to concentrate on revamping Ghana football than focusing solely on winning the AFCON title.
“The person to be appointed the next GFA Technical Director should not be overburden with winning the AFCON title”, he told Happy FM.
“The person must come with a holistic view where we start from the grassroots. We need to have academies in all the regions by liaising with the schools. We are no longer the football overlords and we will need someone with an open mind to be able to turn things around”
He added: “We need someone with an open mind who will not be manipulated by the GFA administrator or Sports Ministry in his line of duty”.
The GFA is looking to appoint a new Technical Director after Francis Oti-Akenteng left the role in March.
Happy Sports understands that six candidates have been shortlisted for the vacant post and they will be interviewed this week.
