The Ghana Football Association has launched the 2024/2025 Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League ahead of the opening games on Friday, October 18, 2024.

The official launch of the Women’s football season which was held at the secretariat of the Ghana Football Association saw a parked conference room where officials, media, footballers and sponsors come together to celebrate women’s football.

The new season will feature 20 teams with 19 teams hoping to unseat defending champions Hasaacas Ladies at the end of the campaign.

Speaking at the launch of the event, Executive Council Member of the GFA, Gifty Oware-Mensah expressed her excitement stating that she is anticipating a super competitive season.

“The agenda for today was to be able to launch ourselves into the FIFA ideas because Ghana is one of the few countries to have launched a women’s strategic document and that is what I have been working with.”

“The agenda was also to launch the 2024/2025 Women’s Premier League season and it will be an improvement on what we saw last year because Malta Guinness has pledged more commitment and that is to increase the movies given to clubs.”

Gifty Oware-Mensah added that they have been able to train over 30 female coaches with funds from the Malta Guinness’ partnership with the GFA.

“You were asking what we have done with the money and i can tell you that we have trained over 30 female coaches in the past one year from License C and B respectively. Right now if all the clubs decide to work with female coaches, it won’t be difficult at all.” S

The Marketing Manager of Malta Guinness, Dinah Asabea Darko told Happy Sports that they are happy with the improvement they have seen in the league since they took over as the title sponsors two seasons ago.

Diana Asabea Darko added that Malta Guinness in addition to the monthly bonuses, have introduced individual cash awards for the upcoming season to reward outstanding players and coaches.

The Overall best player in both the Northern and Southern zones, as well as the best coach will each receive GH₵10,000 for their performances at the end of the 2024/2025 football season.

“In further support of excellence, this season we are proud to introduce special cash awards for the best player in both the Southern and Northern Divisions, as well as the best coach of the season.
