The Ghana Gaming Commission has officially launched the gaming awareness month aimed at promoting responsible gaming in the country.
The month of September has been set aside to celebrate gaming across the country as part of efforts to educate gamers and panters on how to play smart.
Peter Mireku, Games Commissioner at the launch of the first ever Gaming Awareness Month at the Fritzgerald Center on Monday, August 26, 2024, said it is also part of the need to emphasize the role of the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles in the gaming sector.
“The month-long activities are to highlight the Commission’s commitment to ensuring that the growth of the gaming industry in Ghana aligns with ethical standards and contributes positively to society.”
“The Gaming Commission of Ghana hereby sets aside the month of September to emphasis ethical and responsible gaming for the sustainable development of the gaming industry.”
The Gaming Awareness Month marks the 18th anniversary of the Gaming Commission of Ghana which was established under the Gaming Act 2006, (Act 721) under the Ministry of the Interior.
