
South Africa is set to host an intergovernmental forum, G20 on Thursday and Friday with its Foreign Ministers to continue deliberations amid rising tensions over the Ukraine war, trade disputes without a representative from the United States.
The 19 member international body, per reports which represent some 85% of global GDP and three quarters of trade, often struggle to see eye to eye, with a worsening struggle for dominating opinion at the emergence of the struggle between Russia and Ukraine invasion in 2022.
According to reports South Africa becomes the first African country to host the forum and in hand, the first forum which will see the absence of the United States on account of a feud between the US and South Africa.
Meanwhile, South Africa, grasps the opportunity the international meeting presents to have in-depth discussions on the concerns of poorer countries, including worsening inequality, inadequate action on climate change, and a financial system that favors investment banks over poor sovereign debtors.
