The Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) has appealed to the Civil and Local Governance Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) to reconsider its planned strike on Thursday, November 7, 2024.
Representing civil and local government employees, CLOGSAG announced the strike due to dissatisfaction with the government’s delay in implementing a long-negotiated salary structure.
On November 4, CLOGSAG expressed that the government’s failure to implement the agreed-upon salary adjustments—outlined in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) over 18 months ago had left its members feeling they had no choice but to take action.
In response, FWSC is encouraging CLOGSAG to pause the strike and resume negotiations, underlining the government’s commitment to addressing the salary issue.
The commission highlighted that the government is ready to engage with CLOGSAG to find long-term solutions to their demands, while also preserving the principles of the Single Spine Pay Policy. They urged CLOGSAG to forgo the strike and prioritize dialogue for a swift resolution.
