Friends and sympathizers of Takoradi missing woman curse authorities over fake pregnancy claims

Happy98.9FM’s Western Regional Correspondent, Eric Nana Gyetuah has disclosed that some disgruntled friends and family of 28-year-old pregnant woman, Josephine Panyin Simons who was found after going missing some weeks back in Takoradi, have heaped curses on authorities for saying she (Josephine) was never pregnant.

According to him, these group of people who have been close to the family say they do not understand why the Regional Minister and the Police will come out to say Josephine Panyin Simons was not pregnant “when they had seen and felt her pregnancy.”

Making this revelation in an interview with Don Kwabena Prah on Happy98.9FM’s Epa Hoa Daben political talk show, Eric Nana Gyetuah said, “The friends and family of Josephine say they don’t understand why the authorities will say she was not pregnant and cannot accept the statement from the police and minister.”

In their disagreement and anger, these people adorned in red marched to Josephine’s home “and poured libation, cursing the police, minister and everyone who claims Josephine was never pregnant. They have also urged them to retract the official statement as it is false and maligns the family.”

He went on to reveal that she has been transferred from the Axim hospital to the Afia Nkwanta hospital for further examination to ascertain if she was truly pregnant.

Eric Nana Gyetuah added that Josephine’s mother and two others have been arrested and being interrogated.

Background

28-year-old pregnant Josephine Panyin Simmons got missing last week in Takoradi and was found in Axim on Tuesday and was reported to be about nine months pregnant.

But the Western Regional Minister, Mr Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah disclosed that a preliminary observation by a doctor on her has showed that she was not pregnant and received backlash from Ghanaians.

Subsequently, the Regional Minister asked the police to investigate the woman, husband and the mother.

The Ghana Police Service earlier today also confirmed that the 29-year-old Josephine Panyin Mensah was never pregnant.

In a statement issued by the Police’s Public Affairs Directorate, medical experts have found that Josephine, who they now describe as a suspect, “was never pregnant within the period under review.”

According to the press release, this was the conclusion reached by health officials at the Axim Government Hospital, where she has been receiving care after her reappearance.
