Former Kumasi Mayor, Kojo Bonsu, has expressed that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama will not abolish the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) policy but rather will enhance it.
Mr. Bonsu acknowledged that the Free SHS initiative, introduced by the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has been beneficial to Ghanaians and is here to stay. However, he noted that despite its advantages, the policy has some shortcomings. The next NDC government, under Mr. Mahama’s leadership, plans to review and improve the policy to make it more effective.
He emphasized concern over the quality of food served in secondary schools, which he believes is inadequate, improving this aspect is among the changes the NDC intends to implement, and there is no plan to cancel “such a valuable program”.
Mr. Bonsu urged Ghanaians to ignore any misinformation from other political parties and to support the NDC in the upcoming December elections to improve the Free SHS policy.
