The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Vetting Committee has given the green light to Four (4) aspirants who underwent scrutiny, paving way for them to contest the Manhyia South parliamentary seat in the party’s upcoming internal election scheduled for Sunday, July 14.
The four candidates contesting the Manhyia South NPP primaries are: Nana Afriyie Prempeh, brother of the incumbent MP and NPP running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh; Lawyer Baffour Adjei; Akwasi Coker Gyambibi; and James Owusu Boakye.
The contestants were reminded to exercise restraint and decorum in their language and public statements throughout the campaign season.
Evans Nimako, the National Director of Research and Elections for the New Patriotic Party, has pledged that the party will make every effort to ensure a free and fair election.

He stated that the party is working closely with the Electoral Commission and the Ghana Police Service to guarantee a transparent and secure electoral process, devoid of any manipulation or violence. This collaboration aims to establish a level playing field for all candidates and ensure the credibility of the election.
Meanwhile, Nana Afriyie Prempeh, brother of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has confidently declared his candidacy as the most suitable successor to his brother’s Manhyia South Constituency seat.

He dismissed claims that the seat is a family inheritance, emphasizing his own qualifications and dedication to the party. Nana Afriyie Prempeh appealed to delegates to turn out in large numbers on Sunday to vote for him, assuring them that he is the best choice to lead the NPP to victory in the December elections.
