The immediate past Managing Director of SIC Insurance Company Limited, Ms. Hollistar Duah-Yentumi has filed a lawsuit against the company and its newly appointed MD, James Agyenim-Boateng.
President John Dramani Mahama announced Mr. Agyenim-Boateng as her successor on January 27, but she has rejected this decision in a lawsuit filed on February 4. She contends that her tenure as Managing Director was contractually set for four years, extending until January 1, 2028, or later if agreed upon by the company’s Board of Directors.
According to Ms. Duah-Yentumi, her employment agreement exclusively governs all terms related to her position. She argues that the only entities authorized to terminate her contract are the Board of Directors or all shareholders of the company through a resolution at an Annual General Meeting.
In her suit, she is asking the High Court to declare her dismissal unlawful and in violation of her employment contract. Additionally, she is challenging the legitimacy of Mr. Agyenim-Boateng’s appointment as Managing Director.
She is also seeking an order compelling the defendants to pay her full salary and benefits for the remainder of her contract.
