Former Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, has responded to reports that he is under investigation by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) over alleged embezzlement of funds from the Unified Petroleum Price Fund (UPPF) during his tenure.
In a statement posted on his official page, Abdul-Hamid clarified that, as of the afternoon of the announcement, he had not received any formal invitation from any state investigative body, nor had he been informed of being under investigation for any crime.
Despite this, he expressed his willingness to cooperate fully with any investigation into the matter.
“As at this afternoon, I have neither received any invitation by any State investigative body nor have I been under investigation for any such alleged crime. However, I am willing to avail myself to assist in any investigations of the alleged embezzlement of funds,” he sated
The statement comes after the Special Prosecutor, Mr. Kissi Agyebeng, reportedly disclosed on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, that Abdul-Hamid and three others were being probed for GH₵ 1.3 billion financial irregularities linked to the United Petroleum Pricing (UPPF), a fund meant to ensure uniform petroleum pricing across the country.
