Former Black Stars midfielder, Abu Imoro has died after a short illness in Accra.
The one-time midfield dynamo died on Tuesday, June 28 and his death was announced by another former Ghana star, Anthony Baffoe.
Baffoe, announcing the death on Imoro on social media site Twitter said, ‘ Abu Imoro”Tigana” is no more amongst us ..he died 1 hour ago ..May his soul rest in perfect peace ???????????????? Innā lillāhi wa innā ilayhī rājiʿūn.
Surely we belong to Allah and to him shall we return ..rest well Abu.’
Imoro will be remembered as a tragic hero. For all his skills and talents which saw him nicknamed ‘Tigana’ after France football legend Jean Tigana, Abu could not realize his full potential after falling victim to drugs.
In his dying days, Abu Imoro lived like a pauper while several of his mates, notably, Abedi Pele live a meaningful life.
Imoro is expected to be buried by close of day today according to Islamic tradition.
