Former Education Minister Lee Ocran dies

Former Education Minister, Lee Ocran, is dead following a short illness.

He passed on at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra during the wee hours of Friday, family sources reveal.

A National Democratic Congress (NDC) stalwart, the party has directed its flags to fly at half mast.

Ocran was a former High Commissioner to South Africa and ex-Member of Parliament (MP) for Jomoro.

The NDC, which goes to the polls Saturday to elect a flagbearer for the 2020 elections will hold the primaries Saturday at the back of his Jomoro residence.

Ocran served as Minister for Education of Ghana from 2012 to 2013. He has served as a deputy Minister for Environment.

He once served on the board of the Volta River Authority.
