Former Black Stars player Kwadwo Asamoah Inaugurates Juventus Academy in Ghana

Italian football powerhouse Juventus has officially launched its academy in Ghana. This promising venture is spearheaded by former Juventus midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah, and its mission is to share the ethos, methods, and values of the Serie A club with the people of Ghana.

The Juventus Academy Ghana is a joint venture between the renowned Italian club and the esteemed Kwadwo Asamoah, a footballer who secured six Serie A titles during his impressive seven-year tenure in Turin. This ambitious project garnered support from significant stakeholders, including Serie A, the Italian Embassy in Ghana, the Ministry of Sports, and the Ministry of Education, all of whom were recognized during a press conference held at the SMAC Sports Center within Casa Trasaco in Accra.

With presence in over 50 countries, the Juventus Academy has emerged as an emblem of football excellence, providing budding talents with opportunities to develop not only their football skills but also their character.

At the press conference, Kwadwo Asamoah, who earned 74 caps for Ghana, voiced his enthusiasm for the project. He emphasized that the primary objective is to “nurture young talents into better individuals even before they become professional footballers.” Asamoah also recounted the personal sacrifices he made to bring this academy to life and pledged his unwavering commitment to positively impact the lives of the aspiring players. He recounted that his journey with the project began after receiving a call from manager Max Allegri and the Juventus team manager, which prompted him to share the initiative with the Italian club.

Massimiliano Colasuonno Taricone, the Consul of Ghana to Italy, played a pivotal role in realizing the academy. He expressed his elation and revealed that the vision for this “remarkable project” took shape years ago and underwent numerous stages. Taricone acknowledged the invaluable support received from President Nana Akufo-Addo, Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif, and Education Minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum.

The official inauguration of the Juventus Academy Ghana is anticipated to occur before the close of 2023, promising to be a significant milestone in the development of football talent in the region.
