Former Black Stars management committee member takes Sports Minister on

Veteran football administrator, Yaw Boateng-Gyan, has expressed shock at how the Youth and Sports Minister, Isaac Asiamah, looked apathetically, allowing our football to be politically polarised.

According to the former Deputy National Organiser of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), he cannot fathom how the sports minister is handling football issues in the country.

“I am highly disappointed in Isaac Asiamah. Someone who was once a ranking member in parliament and always criticized sports ministers to keep them on their toes is now the sports minister and yet he has allowed things to get worse. I am highly disappointed in him,” Yaw Boateng told Ohene Brenya Bampoe in an interview on Happy FM’s ‘Anopa Bosuo Sports’

Yaw Boateng believes that there are some qualified group of persons who could have run the affairs of the Black Stars better at this year’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

“We Have some group of people in this country tagged ‘football people’. Whether the person is for NPP or NDC or whatsoever, once the person has the knowledge of how the national team can bring joy into the country, we must let them handle the affairs of football.”

“No FA member has ever been on payroll until the inception of this Normalization Committee, which is ‘chopping’ our monies indirectly. All these have to do with the politicization of our football, but Asiamah as the sports minister is not being proactive enough to end the mess in the Black Stars team,” He added.

Tunisia advanced to the 2019 AFCON quarter-final as they defeated Ghana on penalties after a 1-1 draw after fulltime.

Boateng Gyan was a member of the management committee of the Black Stars during John Mahama regime.
