Former Aduana Stars forward Yahaya Mohammed has vehemently denied allegations of match fixing in the team’s recent 2-1 loss to Karela United.
The surprising defeat at Dormaa in match week 28 of the Ghana Premier League sparked rumors of foul play, with Yahaya Mohammed’s name being suspiciously linked to receiving 50,000gh Cedis.
In an exclusive interview on Happy FM’s Wamputu Sports with Sintim Koree Chaskele, he said“There’s no way the match against Karela was fixed. So whenever Aduana goes to win away would they also say those matches have been fixed?”.
Mohammed pointed a finger at the team’s current struggles. “It’s about time the management of the club realizes that the team is just not good enough,” he stated. “Most of the first team players are also injured so why are we trying to attribute the loss to match fixing? All of these accusations are mere allegations, so I would want them to provide evidence to those allegations.”
Aduana Stars’ loss to Karela United dashed their hopes of climbing to second place in the league table. A win would have put them at 42 points, just behind leaders Samartex who currently sit at 52 points.
