Communication Team Member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Padmore Baffour Agyapong, has urged party faithful to work judiciously in making the “the elephant appealing to the Ghanaian populace.”
On his accord the latter day saints of the NPP who barely know anything about the party’s history are diluting the core of the NPP, shifting focus from the elephant to personalities who do not exist without the party.
Ahead of the NPP’s National Delegates Conference, supporters for Vice President Bawumia and Alan Kyeremanten have begun campaigning even though there have been several warnings for them to desist from campaigning.
Even though the next general election will be held in 2024, there are already talks on which persons are qualified to be the next flagbearers of some major political parties in Ghana. For example, in the NPP, there have been discussions on who is fit to ‘break the eight’ for the party to retain power in 2024.
While some have supported the Vice President Bawumia for the flagbearership position, some have thrown their weight behind Trade Minister Alan Kyeremanten.
Padmore Baffour who considers the current happenings in the party as trivial shared on Happy98.9FM’s Epa Hoa Daben political talk show with Don Kwabena Prah, “we need to support one who has been accepted by the party to lead us in the next election based on competency and not on tribal basis. We should stop what we are doing and focus on making the elephant appealing to the party. We should make the elephant brand popular because that is what we are selling and not any personality.”
