#FixTheCountry Movement extends protest, announces December-long #OccupyJulorbiHouse and #JustResign protests

Democracy Hub, the Convenor of the #FixTheCountry movement and #OccupyJulorbiHouse protests, has made a significant announcement that is set to reshape the socio-political landscape of Ghana.

In a press release issued today, Democracy Hub revealed its intention to host an extended and detailed version of the #OccupyJulorbiHouse protest, scheduled to take place from December 1st to December 31st, 2023, right at the frontage of the Jubilee House.

The purpose of this extensive picketing event, themed “#OccupyJulorbiHouse” and #JustResign, is to convey a strong message of dissatisfaction with the current state of governance in Ghana.

Democracy Hub’s statement expresses concerns about what it perceives as incompetence, a lack of integrity, routine abuse of power, and greed within the government.

The organization with the Ghanaian youth as its majority, is deeply troubled by persistently high levels of youth unemployment, economic mismanagement leading to increased poverty levels, declining press freedom, extrajudicial killings, and the persecution of activists advocating for democratic reforms.

The picket’s primary call to action is for the President of Ghana to resign immediately or face impeachment by Parliament. Democracy Hub also demands the swift prosecution of corrupt officials, including individuals within the President’s family and inner circle, whom a former cabinet Minister has described as part of a “Friends, Family, and Concubines Government.”
