The Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Emelia Arthur, has officially inaugurated a 12-member National Premix Fuel Committee tasked with overseeing the procurement, distribution, and policy formulation for premix fuel across the country.
At the inauguration ceremony, the Minister charged the committee to ensure fair and equitable distribution of premix fuel to all landing beaches across Ghana’s four coastal regions.
She underscored the need for transparency and efficiency in the allocation process to safeguard the livelihoods of fisherfolk and promote the sustainability of the fishing industry.
The committee’s mandate includes tackling persistent challenges such as diversion and hoarding of premix fuel, while also streamlining procurement processes to improve accessibility for fishermen.
This initiative forms part of the government’s broader commitment to revitalizing the fisheries sector and ensuring a reliable and fair supply of premix fuel to coastal communities.
