Ghana midfielder, Thomas Partey, can add La Liga champion to the list of titles he has won after his former side Atletico Madrid were crowned champions on a dramatic last day in Spain.
Atletico came from behind to beat Real Valladolid 2-1 to pip rivals Real Madrid to their first title since 2014.
Partey, 28, will be able to share in the glory of the Rojiblancos after playing three games for Diego Simeone’s men prior to his 45 million pound transfer to Arsenal last summer.
Per the La Liga rules, Partey is entitled to share in the victory, which will be the first league title of his career.
“Yes, Thomas Partey is officially LaLiga champion. He played three games [for Atlético this season] – two [games] from the start. We don’t give medals [in LaLiga] but he is officially champion,” Spanish football expert Guillem Balague told Joy Sports.
In 2014, Partey was on loan at Almeria when Atletico won their first title under Diego Simeone and thus missed out on a medal.
He won the 2018 Europa League and 2018 European Super Cup with Atletico Madrid
