Fadama Zongo emerges winner of 2022 HappyFM Salah Food Fest cooking contest

Team Insha Allah, representing Fadama Zongo, has beaten the competition coupled with the odds to emerge winner of the 2022 edition of the HappyFM Salah Food Fest cooking competition.

Team Insha Allah walked home with cash and prizes worth Ghc20,000 and a big fat cow.

The contest which saw contestants bring out their A game was flawlessly executed from the purchasing of food items to the final output, the amazing dishes from contestants.

The contest which started off with an intra zongo community contest saw the best of the best competing to represent their neighborhoods, with only 10 making it to the grand finale.

The 10 to have secured spots at the finals were; Understanding Ladies from Kasoa, Blessed Hand Tasty Food from Nima Zongo and the ever-graceful Insha Allah team representing Fadama Zongo. Classic Ladies from Tuba Zongo, team Ak)n)ba from Madina Zongo, Maaggee group of Ashaiman Zongo, Classic Ladies from Abeka Zongo, Pretty Ladies representing Sabon Zongo, team Sanash of Maamobi Zongo and Classic Tasty Food from Alajo Zongo all sought to win the title.

Team Insha Allah proved that indeed the supreme Allah was on their side as their cooking skills were graded 80% by judges, a testament to their prowess in the kitchen. 

After inspecting and tasting the food (Tuo Zaafi made with rice and ayoyo, dried okra and kuka soups) of team Insha Allah, judges did not only grade their food as top notch, but described their personalized presentation as one out of the box.

The grand finale of the 2022 ‘HappyFM Salah Food Fest’ contest, aside from the myriad of activities to engage patrons also featured exciting musical performances from industry greats, Fameye and Rashid Metal.

These made men rocked the stage and electrified the atmosphere with back to back and world class performances to the admiration of all present.

Programmes Manager for Happy98.9FM, Elwood Mantey had this to say; “We’ve achieved what most believed was impossible not only by dint of hardwork, but with the support of my team and all contestants. It was not all smooth but we made it happen. This contest has changed the perception about Zongo communities and shown how united and supportive  they are of each other. It’s been an amazing run and we as HappyFM are glad to be an integral part of the Salah Fest Cooking Contest. It is with a broad smile that I say a big thank you to the management of HappyFM, the office of the National Chief Imam, our Events and Promotions Team and our dear sponsors for making this happen.”

He pledged the HappyFM brand which only seeks to do better year in year out will revise its notes and organize a grander ‘Salah Food Fest’ contest to promote and showcase the richness and traditions of the Muslim community.

The 2022 ‘HappyFM Salah Food Fest’ contest was sponsored by HD+, Tasty Tom Enriched Tomato Mix, Royal Aroma Fortified Rice, Bigoo Drinks and Cedar Bakes.
