Former Black Stars and Hearts of Oak legend, Mohammed Polo, has advised Gladson Awako not to get involved in the squabble between his former side, Great Olympics and Hearts.
Awako completed a move to the defending Champions of the Ghana Premier League for a fee of Ghc 100,000. There’s currently a friction between the two neighboring clubs due to obvious events that unfolded after his transfer.
Speaking to Joe Debrah on Happy98.9 FM’s Wamputu Sports, the Magician Polo advised, “A player shouldn’t get himself into such things. Your main concentration as a player is to keep playing football. Fortunately for these players, they’ve personal managers running their affairs. Therefore, they should know who to resolve such situations and be conscious of ruining their career.
I’m not disputing the fact that these situations happen in football, but as a professional, you need to decide on what to do, if not you’re creating problems for yourself.”
He further expressed his disappointment at the approach Awako employed, “If you’re not good, Hearts would never sign you. It’s unfortunate he didn’t even put an effort, then I see no reason he agreed to the deal. I’m sad he’s backsliding in his career after all the hard work he’s done to get here,” he added.
Mohammed Polo also revealed he once coached the former TP Mazembe player in a second division club.
Apparently, Gladson Awako is yet to resume training with the Phobians after he was excused by the club to address personal issues.
