President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has extolled the contributions of outstanding individuals and institutions towards national development at the 2024 Ghana National Honours and Awards ceremony held in Accra on Monday, December 30.
The event, steeped in tradition since its inception by Ghana’s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, in 1960, serves as a platform to recognize exceptional service, sacrifice, and dedication to Ghana’s progress.
In his address, the President emphasized the importance of celebrating excellence and acknowledging the transformative impact of quiet yet profound efforts by individuals and organizations. He described the ceremony as a reflection of the nation’s gratitude to those whose commitment and brilliance have lit the path for others, reinforcing Ghana’s collective journey toward progress.
President Akufo-Addo urged all Ghanaians to draw inspiration from the honorees’ achievements. He called for a renewed commitment to building a prosperous nation where every individual can contribute meaningfully.
In his vision for a “Ghana Beyond Aid,” he reiterated the importance of reminding citizens that everyone has a part to play in shaping a prosperous future. He envisioned a Ghana where children have opportunities, workers enjoy dignity, and every citizen has a voice in the nation’s development.
