Visually impaired award-winning journalist and TV show host, Paul Anomah-Kordieh of eTV Ghana, has just won himself the Journalist with Disability award from the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI).
YALI is the United States’ signature effort to invest in the next generation of African leaders. A total of 26 Journalists and Communication Professionals were selected across Ghana to benefit from the training with workshops and comprehensive sessions anchored by seasoned journalists, lecturers and professionals.
The Media Capacity Building Initiative for Reporting on Disability (MCBIRD) was a seminar to equip the beneficiaries with how to report and promote fact-based, objective and impactful media content on Persons With Disabilities through the media. The seminar commenced on Thursday, 2nd December and ended with an awards night on 3rd December where Paul bagged this prestigious and well-deserved award.
Paul, despite his physical challenge, is never despaired or demotivated from performing his job to satisfaction. Formerly the host of ‘Live Chat with Paul’ on eTV Ghana, he is now the host of Ghana’s most watched religious programme, Christian Connect which airs on eTV Ghana.
Speaking on this great achievement, Paul Anomah-Kordieh said, “I am immensely grateful for this award. Hardwork really pays and I am very glad that I get to do what I love and have people appreciate me for it. Thank you YALI TV for this award and thank you, eTV Ghana for giving me the platform to convince PWDs that disability should not be a hindrance”.
Cosby Bikpe, Programmes Manager of eTV Ghana said, “The effort that I see Paul put into his work is truly admirable and I believe this award was put in the hands of the rightfully deserving. Congratulations, Paul”.
