Management of Enugu Rangers International has secured $50,000 package for the family of the late Ifeanyi George Onwubiko, who was killed in a car crash on March 22 along the Benin-Asaba express way.
The package is an Insurance benefit due the late footballer’s family.
The Communication Director for Enugu Rangers International, Nobert Okolie, in an interview with Ghana’s number one Sports Station Happy 98.9FM said the club has a policy that all players and staff of Enugu Rangers International stand to benefit in case any calamity befalls the team or its member(s).
Speaking to Happy 98.9 FM’s Odiasempa Kwame Oware, he said, “The passing of Ifeanyo George Onwubiko was a big blow to the club but due to the good policy of the club owner and governor of Enugu state H.E, Rt. Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the family will get this insurance benefit.”
“Even though this is not equal to the life of the footballer, it will bring out some sigh of relief to the family”.
He added that the Ghanaian trio in the team, Sadick Abass, Nana Bonsu and Mutawaliki Seidu are all in safe hands and were unable to travel back home due to the closure of the borders.
“The Ghanaian players in our team are doing well. They are observing the social distancing rules. We are always checking up on them. Hopefully they can return home when the borders are opened”.
