Former Finance Minister, Seth Terkper has said that the ‘Enough is Enough’ Demonstration by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) was needed to protect Ghana’s democracy.
According to Seth Terkper there is no need for the NDC to issue an ultimatum to the Electoral Commission to do the right thing to protect the integrity of the upcoming elections and the country’s democracy.
The former Finance Minister who joined hundreds of Ghanaians in the ‘Enough is Enough’ demonstration told Happy News that the EC should just be transparent and display the voter’s register.
“The ultimate here is for democracy, transparent democracy to secure what we have built together since 1992 and also to preserve the peace.”
“There is no need for us to give the EC an ultimatum, they should just display the register. They should just be transparent and do the right thing,” Seth Terkper told Happy News.
He added that if the EC has nothing to hide from the NDC and Ghanaians, they should display the register for all to see that they have indeed corrected the mistakes detected by the NDC.
“Mistakes were detected in the register and so if the EC claims that they were not deliberate and have been corrected, they should let us see it for ourselves. This shouldn’t even be a big issue but the EC is making it seem like there is something there.”
