President John Dramani Mahama has assured Independent Power Producers of working together as a team to resolve issues in the power sector.
Speaking during a meeting with the Independent Power Producers in Accra on Monday January 13, 2025, President Mahama reiterated his commitment to resolving the issues within the power sector which include dealing with the issues of the value Chain, and making available Gas.
“I thought that it was important for me to meet you as President and tell you that I care about your concerns and what you are going through and to say that, we are going to work together with you to see how we can resolve the issues with the power sector”.
“The first thing is for us to deal with the issue of the Value Chain and that means that we must start from the downstream all the way upstream”.
He added, “there are issues to do with availability of Gas and so that’s upstream, how we get the companies in that space to increase exploration and bring on more Gas so that we eliminate the use of fossil fuels and achieve our dream of a 100 percent Gas to power, which will bring down the cost of generation”.
President Mahama stated that, “the next is to see how we can bring more efficiency in terms of your sector and the production of power so that we can pass on any benefit to the Ghanaian people”.
