Member of Parliament for Tamale South and former Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu is demanding the Electoral Commission of Ghana to appear before Parliament and brief the house on the current state of Biometric devices expected to be used for 2024 general elections.
According to him, the Electoral Commission is currently having 75, 000 biometric devices which would be used to conduct the 2024 elections and there is the need for the State to know how strong and functionable the devices are to avoid interruptions on the day of election.
Speaking on the floor of Parliament, Harruna Iddrisu emphasized that the devices must be properly checked technically to know if the they have strong batteries, adaptors to ensure smooth running of the upcoming election.
He also expressed concern about the unlawful transfer of votes from Pusiga to Tamale South Constituency which can result in confusion within the constituencies.
He urged the Speaker of Parliament to summon the electoral commission to the house for an update.
