The former Ashanti Regional 1st Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwabena Nsenkyire has expressed frustration over the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s lack of significant achievements in the Ashanti Region over the past twenty-nine years.
He pointed out that despite the late Jerry John Rawlings having ties to the region through marriage, the NDC cannot claim to have completed a single meaningful project there. He criticized former President and 2024 presidential candidate of the NDC, John Dramani Mahama, who he said cannot point to any projects he initiated and completed during his time in office.
Nsenkyire further refuted the NDC’s claims regarding the Kejetia Market project, stating that when the NPP government, led by President Nana Akufo-Addo, took office, the market’s Phase One was only 46% complete, contrary to the NDC’s political narrative. He stressed there is not a single project that former President John Dramani Mahama can claim to have completed, not even the Sofoline Interchange.
He highlighted his long-standing connection to the region, having served as the Assembly Member for Dekyemso for 20 years, as well as holding positions as the 1st and 2nd Vice Chairman of the NPP and Regional Director for NADMO. Born and raised in the Ashanti Region, Nsenkyire emphasized he is deeply familiar with the region’s development and is fully aware of the absence of progress under the NDC.
