Election 2024: Gomoa East MP petitions OSP over alleged election rigging plot

The Member of Parliament for Gomoa East constituency, Desmond Degraft Paitoo, has officially petitioned the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) to investigate allegations of bribery involving officials of the Electoral Commission (EC).

The officials were reportedly heard in a leaked audio discussing plans with NPP parliamentary candidate Kojo Asemenyi to manipulate the 2024 elections in his favor.

In a letter sighted by Happyghana.com, the Gomoa East MP called on the Special Prosecutor to investigate the allegations and ensure that the implicated EC officials face legal consequences.

He also requested that the officials recuse themselves from representing the Electoral Commission in Gomoa East, citing concerns over their impartiality.

Meanwhile, Mr. Paitoo’s lawyer, Aggrey Flynn Amissah revealed that they have also petitioned the Electoral Commission’s chairperson, Jean Mensa, to address the issue.
