The Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has expressed his unwavering commitment to ensuring a peaceful and prosperous Ghana as the nation approaches the 2024 general elections.

Reflecting on Ghana’s remarkable democratic journey since the dawn of the Fourth Republic, Dr. Bawumia emphasized that the nation’s stability is not an accident but the result of continuous efforts by leadership, institutions, and citizens who cherish peace as the cornerstone of national progress.

Speaking during the signing of the 4th Presidential Election Peace Pact in Accra on Thursday, November 28, Dr. Bawumia praised the efforts of key organizations like the National Peace Council and the Institute of Democratic Governance (IDEG), which have been instrumental in maintaining the peace Ghana enjoys today. As the country heads into its ninth presidential election, he underscored the importance of every election in reaffirming Ghana’s commitment to democracy, the Constitution, and the rule of law.

Dr. Bawumia reiterated the NPP’s belief in the power of democracy, highlighting that the forthcoming elections will not only mark another chapter in Ghana’s democratic story but will also showcase the resilience of its citizens in rising above differences for the greater good of the country. With the world watching, he expressed confidence that Ghana would once again shine as a beacon of democracy and stability in Africa.

He called on all political parties, electoral officers, security agencies, and the media to take responsibility for preserving peace during the election process. He stressed the importance of unity, peace, and collaboration, especially for the sake of the nation’s youth, who are the future of Ghana.

He extended goodwill to all political opponents, inviting them to join in fostering an atmosphere of mutual respect and unity. His message was clear: the pursuit of political power is not for personal gain but for the betterment of the people and the future prosperity of Ghana.
