Election 2024: EC to begin replacement of voter ID cards May 30

NDC follows up on its request for a forensic audit of the 2024 voters register

The Electoral Commission (EC) will start replacing voter ID cards from Thursday, May 30, to Friday, June 14.

During this period, applications for vote transfers and proxy voting will also be processed.

These activities will be conducted in EC district offices, chosen electoral areas, and public universities.

It’s important to note that it is a criminal offence for a guarantor to vouch for more than 10 people, non-Ghanaians, and individuals who are under 18 years of age.

In preparation for the December 2024 elections, the EC has announced plans to update the voter register.

The update will take place from May 7 to May 27, 2024, aiming to register newly eligible voters who have recently turned 18.

Additionally, individuals over 18 who have not yet registered for a voter ID card will have the opportunity to do so during this time.
