The Electoral Commission (EC) is set to begin transporting ballot papers across the country today, Thursday, November 14, in preparation for the upcoming December 7 elections.
In a letter dated November 13, the EC notified the General Secretaries of political parties about the distribution timeline. The initial phase will kick off in the Greater Accra Region today, with Central, Western, Savannah, and Upper West Regions scheduled to receive their ballot papers on Friday, November 15.
On Saturday, November 16, distribution will reach Ashanti, Ahafo, and Western North Regions. This distribution marks a key step in the EC’s month-long preparations, which have included finalizing voter registration, assigning polling stations, and training election staff.
They stated that ballot papers will be stored in secure police facilities in each region until election day. On election day, the papers will be released to officials in the presence of party representatives to ensure transparency.
The EC has assured the public that rigorous security protocols are in place to safeguard the electoral process and prevent any tampering or unauthorized access.
