In a concerning development just hours before the highly anticipated New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primary in the Ejisu Constituency, happyghana.com has gathered that the former Ghana Football Association president Kwesi Nyantakyi has been hospitalized.
According to a source from Nyantakyi’s campaign team, the aspiring parliamentary candidate was admitted to the hospital on Friday night after suffering from stomach pains.
The source suggested the illness may have been caused by Nyantakyi’s busy schedule, as he had not eaten all day while engaged in various campaign activities ahead of Saturday’s primary.
A total of 1,081 NPP delegates in Ejisu will today decide the fate of the nine aspirants vying to become the party’s candidate for the upcoming by-election.
This follows the unfortunate passing of the late MP, John Ampontuah Kumah, on March 7, 2024.
The NPP has cautioned both the aspirants and delegates to strictly adhere to the election guidelines, reiterating calls for candidates not to camp delegates.
Nana Kofi Owusu, the Ashanti Regional Research and Elections Officer of the NPP, has assured that all is set for the primary to take place as scheduled.
The outcome of today’s primary will be crucial, as the NPP looks to retain the Ejisu seat in the impending by-election called by the Electoral Commission for April 30, 2024.
Happyghana.com will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they unfold.
