Independent parliamentary candidate for the Effutu constituency, Louisa Buabeng, has been remanded into police custody by the Winneba High Court.
The decision was issued by Her Ladyship Justice Marriam Agyeman Gyasi Jawhary today, Thursday 28th November 2024.
Louisa Buabeng was initially arrested on November 20 at the court premises following a hearing relating to an election petition she had filed and was later granted bail. She was re-arrested on the evening of Wednesday, November 27, and brought before the court this morning.
Reports indicate that the arrest stemmed from the discovery of multiple voter identification cards at the residence of one of her aides. While the aide has been charged with unlawful possession of the documents, Buabeng faces a charge of conspiracy to commit crime.
The court has remanded Buabeng into custody for four days, with her next appearance scheduled for Monday, December 2, 2024.
