Economic Fighters League urges media to choose sides in galamsey fight

Economic Fighters League calls on Speaker of Parliament to recall parliament and impeach President Akufo- Addo

The Economic Fighters League has urged the media to take a clear stance in the fight against galamsey, stating that it’s a choice between opposing the illegal mining practice or supporting it.

The group revealed that after attending a court session yesterday, it became evident that those in favor of galamsey seem to be gaining the upper hand. Due to this, the group feels disillusioned with the legal process, convinced that justice will not be served in the courts.

Instead, they believe true justice will be found on the streets, which is why they are calling on Ghanaians to rise up, just as they did in 1948. According to them, Ghanaians are not a people who can be silenced or intimidated, and history has proven their readiness to resist injustice and oppression.

The group invoked the memory of national heroes such as Sergeant Adjetey, Corporal Atipo, Lance Corporal Odartey, and Ghana’s independence leader, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, emphasizing the nation’s long-standing tradition of fighting for justice.

Their call comes in the wake of the arrest and detention of some members of the Democracy Hub demonstration. Despite numerous appeals for their release, the court has remanded several of them for two weeks.
