Minister for Energy and Green Transition John Abdulai Jinapor has rejected the notion that only the Director of Procurement should be held accountable.
Mr. Jinapor dismissed suggestions that accountability should be limited to the Director of Procurement.
He emphasized that all officials involved must be scrutinized, highlighting that law enforcement agencies will ensure a fair and thorough investigation.
“The Director of Procurement alone does not sign contracts; higher authorities are involved. It is important that this matter is not reduced to just one individual”.
“The Board and management’s decision to merge the positions of Director of Procurement and Director of Estate must also be examined.”
He stressed the importance of accountability for public office holders, noting that all individuals connected to the transactions must answer for their roles.
The Minister’s comment comes after the Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin alleged that ECG officials and Customs Officers colluded to sell the missing containers at the port.
