EC is turning into a lawless institution – NDC on EC's re-collation defense

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has sharply criticized the Electoral Commission (EC) for defending its decision to re-collate election results in nine constituencies after they had already been declared.

Dr. Rashid Tanko-Computer, the NDC’s Deputy Director of Elections, labeled the EC’s justification as “unacceptable” and accused the Commission of displaying increasingly “lawless” behavior.

The EC has argued that re-collation is not unprecedented in Ghana’s electoral history, but Dr. Tanko-Computer expressed the party’s dissatisfaction, claiming the Commission’s stance contradicts its previous statements.

He cited an incident in Techiman South, where EC Chairperson Jean Mensa reportedly asserted that once results were declared, dissatisfied parties could not demand a re-collation or recount.
