The Electoral Commission (EC) has urged the public to dismiss a viral social media video showing what appears to be a Voters Register for Ahafo Ano 1 and 2 being transported in a white pick-up truck along with other documents.
In a statement released on Wednesday December 4, the EC clarified that the register displayed in the video is not an official document of the Commission. It explained that authentic EC registers are black and white, unlike the colored version seen in the footage.
The Commission also highlighted that the Final Voters Register provided to political parties is printed by the parties themselves for use by their agents. Additionally, the EC stated that the truck featured in the video does not belong to the Commission.
Deputy Chairman Samuel Tettey called on the Police to investigate the incident, emphasizing that the vehicle’s registration number, visible in the video, could aid in the investigation.
