Eastern Regional Minister Seth Kwame Acheampong has highlighted the government’s efforts since it assumed office in 2017 to address citizens’ needs through various programs and projects across all sectors.
Speaking at the Regional Townhall meeting in Koforidua on September 3, 2024, Mr. Acheampong emphasized the notable progress in the educational sector within the region.
He reported a significant increase in Senior High School enrollment, which rose from 127,095 in the 2016/2017 academic year to 196,314 in the 2023/2024 academic year, marking a 54.46% increase.
Additionally, he said 404 new educational facilities have been established in the region, catering to both basic and senior high schools.
Mr. Acheampong also announced the creation of a state-of-the-art Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) senior high school in Abomosu, Atiwa West District, and a new TVET Center of Excellence in Anyinam in the Atiwa East District Assembly.
He mentioned various infrastructural improvements made to enhance the University of Environment and Sustainable Development and other Colleges of Education in the Eastern Region.
