Earth Tremor: “Stay cool” – NADMO urges Ghanaians to go about normal duties

The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) says the double earth tremors witnessed on Monday, December 12 were not damaging.

It said no cases of loss of lives or properties have been reported.

NADMO is, therefore, calling on all citizens to remain calm and go about their normal duties.

“Homeowners in affected areas are encouraged to inspect their buildings for possible cracks and seek technical advice from Engineers and other building experts,” NADMO said in a statement issued by its Director-General, Eric Nana Agyemang-Prempeh, on Monday, December 12.

It said it is collaborating with the Ghana Geological Survey Authority (GGSA) to obtain the exact details of Monday’s tremors, particularly its magnitude and epicenter.

“The public will be duly informed of any development.”

The Organisation concluded by cautioning the public on the kinds of information shared on social media “in order to be safe and go about our duties without fear and needless panic”.
