Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe condemns Ayawaso West Wuogon Mp for sharing food to voters

A founding member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, has criticized the actions of Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency, Lydia Seyram Alhassan following allegations of distributing food to security officials in a voting queue.

The incident, which occurred during voting on Monday, has drawn widespread condemnation, with Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe describing it as a blatant act of misconduct.

He emphasized that such conduct undermines the integrity of the electoral process, particularly when it involves security personnel entrusted with maintaining law and order. He expressed disappointment that none of the security officials rejected the food packages, describing the situation as a disgraceful display that compromises the credibility of those tasked with upholding democratic principles.

He noted that the parliamentary candidate involved denied any wrongdoing, despite evidence reportedly captured on video. He questioned the candidate’s suitability to serve as a legislator, stating that such behavior would not be tolerated in more developed democracies.

He called for the party to take decisive action, including revoking her candidacy, to safeguard its reputation and commitment to ethical governance.

He stressed that individuals with questionable conduct should not be allowed to hold positions of authority, warning that such actions erode public trust in parliament and the democratic process. He expressed hope that voters would vote against her if her party fails to act.
