Vice President and Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, has assured that transportation issues in schools will soon be a thing of the past. He announced plans to introduce a credit system to shift away from direct cash purchases of school buses.
Dr. Bawumia explained that the current challenge of government to purchase buses for schools stems from the large number of schools, which makes it difficult for the government to accumulate enough cash to buy all the required buses.
Speaking to the people of Ayawaso West Wuogon on Friday, September 6, 2024, Dr. Bawumia noted that with over 700 senior high schools, acquiring buses outright is impractical.
Instead, he proposed working with the private sector to lease a fleet of buses, allowing for gradual payments. He promised that if elected, his administration would ensure that no school faces transportation challenges by implementing a credit system for leasing vehicles.
